Volks, man,  Volks. And I dunno about huge need, since all I seem to see is complaints that there aren’t enough mature/muscly looking dolls when they are all I see nowadays. =A=

The great thing about the ‘90’s…

misterrapscallion:

was that you could have a cartoon that started out with two cats in a jet blowing up a t-rex,

image

or that was about a chicken with a cow for a sister who hang around Satan a lot,

image

or that had martian mice riding motorcycles,

and somehow… they’d totally work out.

Awww, man, I miss Swat Cats!

Creepiest thing you’ll see today, this week, or, like, ever.

Welp, just peed my pants at work.

Creepy as hell

Why would you do this.

I think you are missing the “ASIAN” part of these dolls….. I doubt the sculptors are ever thinking, “Let’s make these dolls as ethnic as possible.” or “Let’s make a line of latino dolls!”

As an Asian living in what is considered a very cosmopolitan corner of Asia, we still only see ‘black’ people on TV. I personally find it very difficult to tell a ‘Latino’ apart from a tanned ‘white’ person too. OTL I can only imagine what it’s like in the bjd producing countries China, Japan or Korea, where the populations are more homogenous and/or self-contained…

so I guess there’s a bunch of fauns and elves in Asia too? cause, sculptors obviously can’t or don’t want to make anything they don’t see around them.

There are as many fauns and elves as ethnic sculpts, because they’re all things that sculptors don’t see every day. Possible more elves and fauns because there is this very real and pervasive preference for pale skin in east Asia. And there are also quite a few sculpts out there based on Asian mythology, which you might be counting amongst your elves and fauns?
If you like, I’ll just come out and say, yea, I think the Asian sculptors are (generally) racist against dark-skinned ethnic groups without even being aware of it themselves, because it’s a… how to say? Cultural thing? Black people may as well be fantasy creatures, and since there are so many ‘pale and pretty’ creatures to sculpt, dark-skinned ethnic sculpts end up quite low on the list?
I think, if there are to be more ethnic sculpts on the market, it has to be made known to the sculptors/doll companies directly, because I am pretty certain that they don’t believe there is a market for it, especially if they have high volumes of domestic sales, where there generally wouldn’t be demand. Iplehouse took the risk, and listened to their customers. I believe Granado and Souldoll also have keyed into the market a bit. So, if you’d like to see more ‘ethnic’ sculpts, I fully encourage everyone to feedback to their favourite companies, and then vote with their money.
Just wanna let ya know how it generally works here in yellow-skin-land. ._. Please don’t be offended, we just don’t know you well enough yet.

The movie’s fourth wall breakage is hard to apply to all cases, but I have fun imagining there are villains that even the villain support group disapproves of.

DYING. I AM DYING.

Fucking Brilliant
